John and Martine

John and Martine Smithwick are the Co-Founders and International Directors of the THP. John and Martine have traveled the world preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost, the unreached, and to the believer! They have carried God’s Healing and Miracle Power to over 25 Nations and have seen God perform many notable miracles of healing. Since they founded JSMI in 1998, John Smithwick Ministries International has seen over one million souls won to Jesus through mass crusade evangelism and strategic outreaches. In many unreached areas of the world, JSMI has planted and funded new churches and equipped new believers with discipleship materials.

JSMI is dedicated to raising up a generation that is focused on Reaping the Harvest. That is why John and Martine launched Global Ventures Team Trips in 2002. Through Global Ventures they take people all over the world, training and equipping them as they take part in the “hands-on” winning of souls and working of miracles. People’s lives are forever changed after coming on just one of these trips!

Thailand has become one of the primary countries John and Martine have specifically directed their focused. In 2005 John and Martine conducted their first crusade in Thailand. It was during this trip that God further connected their hearts with missionaries Bob and Debbie Scott (who helped with the crusade coordination). On this trip John and Bob strategized about launching a Harvest Plan in Thailand. In March of 2006 this strategy became a reality! John and Martine led in teams to conduct the next Crusade while Bob and Debbie coordinated with Thai believers “on the ground” helping to facilitate the event. The corporate goal was not only to successfully conduct this massive evangelism event but to also plant a church in an unreached area in conjunction with the crusade. The strategy worked…not only were thousands saved but the first church in the THP was successfully planted!

In just a few brief years the THP has won over 120,000 people to Jesus and planted 10 churches in unreached areas! In this strategic plan, JSMI along with the THP staff continues targeting unreached regions of Thailand where they facilitate mission teams, conduct mass crusades, and plant brand new churches (where none existed before). As a result, the unreached are saved, the new believers are raised up, leaders are developed, and the nation is being changed!

Bob and Debbie

Bob and Debbie Scott are the Co-Founders and National Directors of the THP. Bob Scott acquired a hunger for missions while still attending high school. Even though he had only been out of Iowa a few times, he went on his first mission trip to Costa Rica in 1995. This trip changed Bob’s life forever. Upon returning he knew in his heart he was called to the mission field! After graduating from high school Bob went to Albania with Teen Mania, and two years later he traveled to Kenya as a team leader. Bob knew that he wanted to move overseas but didn’t have any idea where or how. He decided that further training for ministry was necessary, and attended Rhema Bible Training Center and Domata School of Missions, graduating from both in 1998. With training complete and nothing holding him at home, Bob looked to the world to see where God might lead him.

The Lord led him to visit Thailand, where Rhema Bible Church Bangkok had recently been planted. During that visit God put it on his heart to move there the following year. Bob served at Rhema Church Bangkok as youth pastor for three years, and as an instructor at Rhema Bible Training Center Thailand. While serving at Rhema, Bob attended intensive language school. He successfully passed the Thai government’s language proficiency exam. He reads, writes, and speaks Thai. Being able to preach and mentor in Thai is a great benefit to his ministry.

Bob met Debbie Klongtruadroke, while she was serving as staff for Domata Bible School Thailand. They were married in February 2003, and Debbie joined Bob as Youth Pastor of Rhema Bible church Bangkok. Debbie is a great partner for Bob’s ministry, because she is of Thai descent, but with a good bit of western culture mixed in! Debbie’s father is Thai, and her mother is Italian. She was born in Italy, moved to Bangkok at age 12, and was educated in “American” schools. Debbie is fluent in Thai, English, and Italian. She is a graduate of Domata Bible School Thailand, and attended Rhema Bible Training Center Thailand. Debbie has an exceptional gift for singing and songwriting, which she uses to create much needed worship songs in the Thai language. She has released three Thai worship albums with her band ‘Footprints,’ and a Thai Christian contemporary album as a solo artist. This was followed by an English album ‘Crossover,’ with its full length Spanish version ‘Imagination.’ Her latest release is her Italian album ‘Angolo di uCore,’ after her first prize win at the Sabaoth Music Festival in Milan. When she was younger, Debbie was a well-known model and actress. She now uses this notoriety to share the gospel of Jesus! She co-hosts CBN’s evangelistic TV program “Jak Jai Tueng Jai” (From Heart to Heart). It is the Thai version of the 700 Club, and is aired weekly on national television with an average of 1 million viewers.

In 2005, God led Evangelist John Smithwick to Thailand. Bob and Debbie helped to coordinate the trip for his ministry team. During that week of ministry Bob and John’s hearts were connected and they began talking and developing the Thailand Harvest Plan. The following year the THP was officially Launched! Bob and Debbie pastored the first THP church plant, and under their leadership the church grew and Thai leaders were raised up. Now, there are ten Churches that have been planted through the Thailand Harvest Plan. As National Directors “on the ground” in Thailand, Bob and Debbie are busy overseeing these Churches and new pastors as well as mentoring them in their growth and development.

Pastor Kit

Meet Pastor Kit. He grew up Buddhist, and like most of the children in Thailand, he was taught Buddhism in school from a very young age. Buddhism was all he ever knew, all he had ever heard. His life was spent trying to appease thousands of gods while striving to live perfect by abiding by all the “rules” they must follow. He eventually became a Buddhist monk and was highly respected in his position. Pastor Kit was a monk for over 5 years, but he was not satisfied with life. Even though he was very well educated in all the ways of Buddhism, it left him empty inside. He knew that no matter how hard he tried – he could never remove the sin from his heart.

Then something happened that would change his life forever. Pastor Kit attended a Thailand Harvest Plan Crusade in Bang Bo and accepted Jesus in his heart. The moment he heard the Gospel, he knew that this was the truth he had been searching for. Now, more than 2 years later – he has been through the THP Bible School and is the Pastor of a THP church plant. This is only one of the thousands of lives that have been changed because of the Thailand Harvest Plan (THP) and people like you. If you are looking for good ground to give into, the THP is taking the Gospel to the darkest regions of Thailand – to those that have never heard.

Nam

Nam was a Chinese Buddhist. Growing up she was taught Buddhism in school, and she went to many ceremonies and rituals. For generations, Nam’s family practiced Buddhism. When she was a young girl her mother took her to visit three monks to tell her future. All three monks said the same thing, if she didn’t do good works by the time she was 25, she would end up in a coma or die. She tried doing many good works but nothing improved.

One day she discovered that her brother, his wife and children all had AIDS. When he passed away, he left his whole family to her. Nam’s brother entrusted her with his daughter. Her niece was getting worse and she was going to die. During that time, Nam was invited to attend a crusade. Nam listened closely to the message that night, and she became a child of God. During the prayer for healing she put her hand on her niece, and she felt God’s power flow like electricity through her hand into her niece’s body. When they arrived home, Nam’s niece grabbed a plate and spoon and said, “Mommy I’m hungry!” At that moment Nam knew that the Lord had healed her!

Nam’s niece is still strong and healthy, and they both faithfully attend the Bang Bo church. Nam is part of the worship team and is also heavily involved in evangelism and follow up programs. She has grown and has become one of the main leaders in the church. Nam has a Shepard’s heart; she is always among the people. She builds relationships with those in the community and shares the story of Jesus and His goodness.

Watch Season 2 Episode 8 for Nam’s full story.
